Waveform Drift

Visitors to Ancient Futures were invited to share a personal message as an audio recording and the collection was translated into a visualization shaped by the nature of what was said. The visualizations then went through a second translation. Woven into fabric, they became a physical record of the stories.

In the weaving process, structures and patterns are chosen to reflect the sentiment of each message. The textiles themselves are still but they’re shown along-side screen based work that brings back a feeling of movement and resonance of the human voice.
